#58: Operation Boards

Description

Operation boards aim to coordinate the use and the exploitation of hydraulic works and water resources in those rivers that are especially interconnected.

Function

Several Operation Boards can exist in a certain river basin, with each of them responsible for specific catchment areas.

Example: The coordination activities by the "Juntas de Explotación" in Spain

Operation Boards (Juntas de Explotación in Spanish) are established in order to coordinate the exploitation and use of water resources of water-intensive activities – irrigators, water suppliers, hydroelectric plants etc. - along a specific river basin that is particularly interconnected. The Boards in Spain propose a biannual programme for the management of the water resources located in the territorial area of the river basin.
